Come, Get to Know Us!

Another exciting day on Barnstable's southern waters, featuring the aquatic sports of kayaking, canoeing and the growing, popular and challenging fun of the sport of paddle boarding, is set as part of a "Paddle for the Bays" on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 10:00 am—3:00 pm at Dowses Beach (East Bay Road) in Osterville, Mass.

The Bays are rich and require our help to preserve them; understanding the eco-system within this watershed and how we must work to protect and improve it is a great part of our mission. As advocates for the health of these waterways, we work to keep our members informed of the vital issues surrounding the Three Bays and how you can join us in maintaining them.

Produced by the firm of Stand Up & Paddle Cape Cod of Osterville, the 2011 "Paddle for the Bays" events will offer all participants — individuals, couples and families — opportunities to learn about and enjoy kayaking, canoeing and paddle-boarding while exploring the waters of East Bay, Centerville River and beyond.

It's a "Call to Arms" to grab a paddle for fun and pleasure and to get closer to Barnstable's waters. Three Bays Preservation, Inc. is hosting this summer event in order to expand awareness of its mission to preserve, maintain, protect and enhance the estuaries of Barnstable and to engage the community in its roster of projects and programs to protect the bays of our town.

"Paddle for the Bays" is a day to join with family and friends in paddling the local waters — to learn the exciting sports of kayaking, canoeing and paddle-boarding. Participants may rent all equipment at the event site, or bring their own.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 8 to 12, and free for those younger than 8 years.
